The tōtara (Podocarpus totara) is symbolic of a great chief. The following expression describes the death of a chief:

More info on Mustang Cars

Shelby American has unveiled their Super Snake package for the Ford
Mustang GT500 2013. The 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake made an
appearance at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction in Las Vegas
in September.
The limited edition 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake features new styling
cues, color options and optional performance upgrades at a lower base
price. Only 500 total 2013 Super Snakes will be built;
The entry-level model has a supercharged 5.8-liter V8 engine that
develops 662 hp (494 kW / 671 PS) and 631 lb-ft (855 Nm) of torque.
Other option is that the engine can be equipped with a Whipple or
Kenne Bell supercharger that enables it to produce 850 hp (634 kW /
862 PS).

I know about this car because it is in the  Muscle  Car car Museum in Blenheim  There are

also three other mustangs there .They are two 1964 GT Mustangs and
a 2003 GT Mustang.  The first Mustang rolled off the assembly line in1964.
Since then they have remained very popular and many people around the world.
Random Fact: The first Mustang was sold to a 22 year old teacher, Gail Wise. According to the Yahoo.com news article, "she went to Johnson Ford in Chicago. After a tour of the showroom turned up nothing of interest, the salesman said “I’ve got something in the back that's really new" — a light blue Mustang convertible, fully loaded with a 260 V-8 and a power top." It was sold on April 15, 1964

QUAKED - SKATING IN CHRISTCHURCH AFTER EARTHQUAKE

Somehow this catches the eeriness of the streets of Christchurch, better than any news report. It reminds me of walking around the CBD and hearing, in the middle of a built up city, the kind of absolute silence you'd normally only hear in a forest or out in the wilderness. Amazing video.

Captain Fantastic is back, but can we beat the Boks?

Okay, This is the second Rugby post and I have put nothing up about Basketball or Soccer BUT,
the All Blacks vs the Boks is HUGE. Richies back, but the stats are not in in our favour. In 11 matches at Ellis Park, we have only won 3 times. Of course I don't know much about rugby!

The MAGIC of the "Log of Wood"

While millions around the world have their eyes glued to the TV watching the drama of the America's Cup unfold, back here in Aotearoa we also have our own drama unfolding. Over the past few weeks the battle for the Ranfurly shield has been very exciting with a change almost of holder every week. Otago won back the shield after a 57 year gap. From Waikato to Otago to Hawkes Bay and now to Counties. Yesterday, Counties-Manakau successfully defended a challenge from previous holders, Waikato. Well done to a team not in the top tier of the Provincial Championship. I guess there is still some Magic left in that old piece of wood yet.

A Few Dream Cars to look at!

If you ever dream about wining Lotto and buying your dream car then  this video might be of interest to you. This week Lotto is up to $25million so you never know.

Actually after watching this video I decided it was a bit boring but I will leave it up for now.
Some people may not agree with me. Pehaps someone in my classes can send me a link to a better video of this car.

According to Matt the Lamborghini Aventador is right at the top of the list of Dream Cars.
This particular car will beat most of the other cars on the market because of its aerodynamic body kit and its supercar V12 engine. The Aventador can go from 0 km/h -100 Km/h in 2.9secs and has a top speed of 217 mph. In episode 17 of Top Gear the Lamborghini Aventador went on the test track with the stig and zoomed around the track at a time of 1:16.5 it was the fifth fastest car on the list. To get this car you will have to pay $675,000 NZ but the waiting list for this car is stretched to 18-months

Two very cool Mountain biking videos

Two very cool mountain bike videos. I figure that if a video has over 7 million view it is probably worth watching.

I love that this downhill race is here in Lyttleton, Christchurch. I think the shipping containers are a nice touch.

Both Videos recommended by Alex G. Enjoy!

Two Amazing blokes - 60 years on!

It is the 60th anniversary this year of Sir Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norquay being the first to climb Mt Everest. For me, Edmund Hilary represents a real Kiwi Hero. Yes, he achieved an amazing feat, but it is
what he did later to help the people of Nepal and how he lived his life, that makes him someone to look up to.

It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.
